2017 Summer Enrichment Information

The information on this page details the summer enrichment assignments for 11th grade students.

ENGLISH

Those students taking English 3: American Literature will read Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Penguin Books, ISBN 9780140481341 Students may choose to purchase in print or digital format. Students can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course title above.

A written assessment will be given during the first full week of school.

THEOLOGY

All juniors will read Beautiful Souls: The Courage and Conscience of Ordinary People in Extraordinary Times by Eyal Press. Picador, ISBN 9781250024084 Students may choose to purchase in print or digital format.  

A written assessment will be given during the first full week of school. Additionally, the students will need the text for coursework in Quarter 1.

MATH

Those students taking Algebra II (College Prep or Honors), Pre-Calculus (College Prep or Honors) or Calculus (Honors) can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course titles in this paragraph.

The assignment for each of the above College Prep and Honors courses will be due on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017.

SCIENCE

Those students taking Physics (Honors) are required to read Chapter 1 of the textbook and complete a Chapter 1 Review Packet. Students can download the Chapter 1 Review Packet by clicking the link in this sentence.

Those students taking Anatomy and Physiology can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the link in the course title.

The assignment for each course will be due on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.

SPANISH

Those students taking Spanish III (College Prep), Spanish III (Honors), or Spanish IV (Honors) can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course titles in this paragraph.

Important Note: Portions of the assignment will be due throughout the summer—please pay close attention to the due dates.

LATIN III

Students taking Latin III will complete a summer review packet linked to the course name in this sentence.

The assignment is due on the first day of classes.

AP ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMPOSITION

Those students taking AP Language and Composition are required to read The Closing of the American Mind by Allan Bloom. Simon and Schuster Publishing. ISBN 9781451683202

This title should be purchased in print format. Students can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course title above.

The first draft of your review will be due on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.

AP CALCULUS AB/BC

Those students taking AP Calculus AB/BC can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course title above.

Note: AP Calculus AB and BC students have the same summer enrichment assignment.

The assignment for this course will be due on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

AP STATISTICS

Those students taking AP Statistics can download the related summer assignment and assessment by clicking the course title above.

The assignment for this course will be due on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

AP BIOLOGY

Those students taking AP Biology will read chapters 1-5, creating detailed outlines for each. These should be submitted to the instructor as a single document in Google Classroom.

Students will complete each study guide for chapters 1-5 as well. These will be collected Friday Sept. 9, 2017, before taking the summative assessment on these five chapters. The assessment can be downloaded by clicking the course title linked above.

AP CHEMISTRY

AP UNITED STATES HISTORY

Those students taking AP U.S. History are required to read

In addition, AP U.S. History students are also required to read the first four chapters of American Pageant: Advanced Placement, David M. Kennedy. Cengage 14th edition, 2010. ISBN 9780547166629

AP U.S. GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS
